Ember Smith, PT, DPT

Hi there!

I am Ember Smith, Doctor of Physical Therapy, and I am so excited you are learning more about what services we offer.

I believe life is all about balance. Well Balance Physical Therapy began when I realized I needed more balance and flexibility in my life.

I specialize in orthopedic and women's health physical therapy. I have extra training in pelvic floor PT, dry needling, pregnancy and postpartum. I help women who want to stay active, fit, healthy and mobile without medications, injections, imaging or surgery. All sessions are one-on-one, personalized, and holistic to help you feel your best. I want to help you feel good and well balanced.

Outside of connecting and helping people like you, I enjoy date nights around town with my husband, traveling, and spending time with our families and friends. Ethan and I welcomed Eli, our first child, in November 2023.

MY VALUES

  • Forming relationships that promote trust and healing

  • Specialty training

  • One-on-one personalized and holistic care

  • Plan of care recommended by a licensed professional and not by insurance

  • Educating clients and the general public on evidence-based content to create lasting change

Courtney Almendinger, PT, DPT

Courtney was born and raised in Sioux Falls, a community she is excited to continue serving. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Athletic Training at Augustana University while also playing on the women’s soccer team. She went on to earn her Doctor of Physical Therapy from University of South Dakota, graduating in 2021.

With hands-on experience in various healthcare settings, Courtney has finely honed her skills in the evaluation and treatment of orthopedic, neuromuscular, and women's health conditions. She has extra training in prenatal and postpartum care. Working with various populations, ranging from high school and collegiate athletes to the geriatric population, has allowed her to develop skills to effectively treat patients of all ages through the use of manual therapy techniques, therapeutic exercise, and balance/gait training. Courtney has a comprehensive understanding of the unique needs of each patient, allowing her to create individualized treatment plans that address the root cause of pain and dysfunction.

Outside of the clinic, Courtney enjoys staying active with workouts of her own including running, biking, and strength training. She enjoys spending time outdoors whether it be hiking, fishing, or camping with family and friends. Her dog, Reno, receives a lot of love and enjoys joining her on walks and runs. When she needs some down time, she likes to relax with a good book or Netflix show.

MY VALUES

  • Compassionate, patient-centered care

  • Collaborative relationships to connect with and empower you

  • Achieving your personal goals

  • Individualized treatment plans that address the root cause of pain and/or dysfunction

  • Life-long learning and growing in the profession

TESTIMONIALS

"Awesome experience with Ember! She made me feel so comfortable with my visit and she was very thorough through our discussion and my care plan. She sent over pre-visit/post-visit information which I felt maximized my time with her to really focus on what we needed to. Highly recommend!"
