Ember Smith, PT, DPT
Hi there!
I am Ember Smith, founder of Well Balanced PT, and I am so excited you are learning more about what services we offer.
I graduated from South Dakota State University with my Bachelors in Exercise Science and from the University of South Dakota with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
I specialize in orthopedic and women's health physical therapy. I have extra training in pelvic floor PT, dry needling, pregnancy and postpartum. I am also a certified group exercise instructor and enjoy teaching Pilates, Yoga and strength classes. At Well Balanced, fitness meets healthcare to help you move pain-free for as long as possible.
Outside of connecting and helping people like you, I enjoy date nights around town with my husband, traveling, and spending time with our families and friends. Ethan and I welcomed Eli, our first child, in November 2023.

Courtney Almendinger, PT, DPT
Courtney was born and raised in Sioux Falls, a community she is excited to continue serving. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Athletic Training at Augustana University while also playing on the women’s soccer team. She went on to earn her Doctor of Physical Therapy from University of South Dakota, graduating in 2021.
With hands-on experience in various healthcare settings, Courtney has finely honed her skills in the evaluation and treatment of orthopedic, neuromuscular, and women's health conditions. She has extra training in prenatal and postpartum care. Working with various populations, ranging from high school and collegiate athletes to the geriatric population, has allowed her to develop skills to effectively treat patients of all ages through the use of manual therapy techniques, therapeutic exercise, and balance/gait training. Courtney has a comprehensive understanding of the unique needs of each patient, allowing her to create individualized treatment plans that address the root cause of pain and dysfunction.
Outside of the clinic, Courtney enjoys staying active with workouts of her own including running, biking, and strength training. She enjoys spending time outdoors whether it be hiking, fishing, or camping with family and friends. Her dog, Reno, receives a lot of love and enjoys joining her on walks and runs. When she needs some down time, she likes to relax with a good book or Netflix show.
